Our campaign had the wonderful opportunity to be able to work with the Sacred Succulent for a virtual event for local community members. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, regular events have been put to a halt and that made it difficult to meet and create a sense of community with our neighbors. When The Sacred Succulent first opened we were excited and we knew we wanted to host an event there.
Once we secured a date and we were able to announce it, Will county entered into stricter COVID-19 mitigation measures. We were all concerned for everyone’s safety but wanted to continue on with the event. It was then that TJ and his family came to the rescue and proposed to us having a virtual learning class on succulents. Our event goers were looking forward to it and we learned a lot that night. Not only did we learn about succulents and how to take care of them but we learned about TJ, his family and their dedication to see their store succeed. It was that love and dedication to their small business and their mission to create personalized experiences to educate and connect our community with nature that made them the right choice for us.
We were worried about having a virtual event and if people were going to be engaged, our worries went away when TJ engaged the audience. His ability to make the class interesting, interactive and create a sense of familiarity is what made this a successful event.
We are looking forward to hosting more events and we cannot wait for more community members to be able to discover this gem in the suburbs!
